A Doctor of Pharmacy and immunologist trained in France and the United States, Aïda Meghraoui embodies this new generation of scientists who don’t just observe the world: they transform it. Founder and CEO of AMKbiotech, Aïda positions herself at the intersection of fundamental research, high technology, and entrepreneurial innovation. Her goal? To accelerate medical research and help make cancer treatments faster, more effective, and more accessible.
From her pharmacy studies onward, Aïda developed a passion for the biology of host-pathogen interactions, those subtle mechanisms where the immune system attempts to maintain balance against external threats. She deepened this fascination with a master’s degree in sciences, then a PhD in immunology defended in 2015. She gained diverse research experience—from Constantine to Reims, through Paris, the Pasteur Institute, Inserm, and to Nashville (Vanderbilt University) where she trained in bioinformatics and high-dimensional data.
Her postdoctoral career continued at CNRS in Sophia-Antipolis, where she worked on clinical studies in oncology. But despite the advances, a realization became clear: tools and methods struggled to keep pace with the urgency of medical challenges. Research was progressing, but not fast enough.
Creating Her Own Path: The Birth of AMKbiotech
Faced with this growing frustration, Aïda chose to take a decisive step. She wanted to contribute more effectively to the fight against cancer, and to do so, she decided to create her own laboratory. The idea took shape in 2021 when she met the Les Premières Sud incubator, which supported her in structuring her project.
She founded AMKbiotech in Sophia-Antipolis with a clear vision: to offer a cutting-edge hyperparametric imaging service, accessible to public and private laboratories, without requiring them to invest in heavy infrastructure. Thanks to her technology, it becomes possible to analyze up to 40 biological parameters simultaneously, in reduced time, from rare or precious samples.
AMKbiotech’s business model is based on highly specialized service provision. The start-up offers a “turnkey” platform enabling biotechs, CROs, and research centers to access complex data with unprecedented precision. The company provides tailored support, including advanced bioinformatics analyses, integrated into research or clinical validation processes.
The team combines scientific expertise and algorithmic innovation. Objective: to eventually develop proprietary analysis tools based on AI and mathematical modeling.
A Major Breakthrough in Liver Cancer Diagnosis
Among the flagship projects underway: the development of an innovative diagnostic test for liver cancer, a disease still difficult to detect early and prone to frequent relapses. This test, based on AMKbiotech’s patented technology, aims to identify relapse risks before they become clinically visible, representing a major advance in predictive medicine and post-treatment monitoring.
This focus on personalized diagnosis reflects Aïda’s vision: precision medicine, more preventive, based on in-depth analysis of biological signals invisible to the naked eye.
A Scientist Wearing Many Hats
Entrepreneur, scientist, communicator, Aïda also embodies the role of ambassador for applied and useful research. She regularly participates in international conferences, makes her voice heard in innovation networks, and actively promotes her team’s publications to enhance the organization’s visibility.
Her journey is inspiring. It shows that one can combine scientific excellence and entrepreneurial ambition, without compromising values or standards. Her ability to navigate between worlds—academic, industrial, technological—makes her a model of female leadership in a sector still too often dominated by linear and compartmentalized approaches.
A Vision for the Future: Accelerate, Democratize, Connect
For Aïda Meghraoui, the fundamental challenge of biomedical research is now accelerating impact. It’s no longer just about producing knowledge, but about rapidly translating it into tools, treatments, and clinical decisions. This requires better circulation of knowledge, interoperable technologies, and collective intelligence bringing together researchers, data scientists, clinicians, and entrepreneurs.
By creating AMKbiotech, she has laid the foundations for an agile and open ecosystem, capable of adapting to the demands of a constantly evolving medical world. An approach that echoes EntrepreneurAI’s mission: to spotlight the women and men who are transforming AI, science, and business to address tomorrow’s challenges.
To Be Continued…
Among upcoming developments: strengthening AI-powered analysis tools, expanding into new European markets, and launching research programs on other cancers. AMKbiotech is thus preparing to reach a new milestone in its development, true to Aïda’s vision: accelerating science to better save lives.
